These exquisite products make copious use of precious aromatic wood with unwanted parts removed.

They are carefully crafted using traditional compounding techniques passed down through the centuries by Nippon Kodo, together with the latest manufacturing technology, and, after curing for a fixed period, are then finished by hand.

This is truly a collectors collection, with only limited numbers produced. 

That's because these products are exclusively manufactured in winter, said to be the best season, and are made from rare raw materials. 

* The fragrance of aloeswood and agarwood derives from the resin produced by the tree to protect itself from harmful attacks by mold or stress. This is a fragrance whose characteristics profoundly affect peoples mood and have been favored across epochs, regions, and generations.

Agarwood and kyara

Agarwood is harvested only in a limited area of South-East Asia centered on Vietnam.


The wood of this tree is white, light and odorless, However, with sufficient time, the forces of nature and the unique functions of the wood itself bring forth the fragrant agarwood aroma treasured since olden times. Of that agarwood, kyara is considered the most refined form of it.


Its pure, elegant aroma, which differs from tree to tree, has charmed countless people through the ages.

The Way of Nippon Kodo

1. Carefully selected raw materials

Agarwood from Vietnam - and kyara - are hard to come by these days. We carefully scrutinize and rigorously select wood from the plentiful stock built up over the years in our warehouses via unique supply routes that we have forged, and use it unsparingly in our products.

2. Production environment

We do our utmost to prevent heat from harming the sublime aromas, and therefore do our production work only in winter - the one season considered suitable for it.

3. By the hands of skilled craftspeople

Top-level artisans who cut no corners take their time in painstakingly handcrafting the matured incense.
Sense and savor the nuances of aroma born of this delicate process of creation.
